Up and Gone

A Day In The Life Of Daniel Viator

Friends, Lovers, and Global Corporations

Yesterday marked the end of a large, important chapter in my life; I quit my job which, to most people, is nothing to bat an eye over but the lump in my throat was definately a choker. For me, Apple wasn’t just a job, it was a career path and lifestyle. When you talk to most current and former Apple peeps, the biggest reason for working there as long as they did or have is the people.

Corporate has a mantra that they like to pass down, “At Apple, our most important resource, our soul, is our people.” A statement that Apple employees (especially in retail) like to make fun of by replacing ‘people’ with ‘money’ but it really is true; I’ve met some of the most amazing people through my time, formed relationships that have stood through even my most introvertive tendencies. Without the abnormally high percentage of super awesome people I don’t think the Cupertino based software company would have changed the world the way it has.

It’s with all my experiences, stories, and friends that I take my leave from the Phoenix Biltmore Apple Store in pursuit of happiness through adventure. The exciting albeit confusing part is that I don’t really know what I want other than a change of scenery; how long I’ll be on the road or where I’ll end up are a mystery to even me. I’ll do my best to keep in touch. I have my blog so the people I love (and even the ones I don’t) can keep current in my life.

So here I am, no longer your friendly neighborhood ICS. Not really sure about much, but I hope that I figure it all out in the near future. To everyone at Apple, this isn’t a ‘goodbye’, just a ‘catch ya next time.’ I’ll settle down somewhere eventually, and until then you’re free to make plans to hit a city, I’ll do my best to make it there in time to meet you.
